Alejandro “Ollie” Chavez ’24 leads by example on the soccer pitch and played a vital role in the 2022 boys soccer season. His contributions and approach to the game are why he was chosen as the October Athlete of the Month for boys soccer.
Head coach Todd Schoeder said Ollie’s positive attitude and willingness to help younger team members is invaluable to the team. Ollie comes to practice and games prepared to play at the highest level. He started in every game this season and served a vital role as the team’s center back, playing tough, physical and tactical soccer, according to Schoeder.
Ollie exemplifies the PRA Way (Prepared, Respectful, Accountable) through his preparation and his approach to mentorship. As he mentors the younger players, he teaches the values by which he represents himself: integrity, sportsmanship, character, teamwork and commitment to every game and practice.
“As a mentor to younger players he encourages them and shows them respect,” Schoeder said. “Ollie leads by example and holds not only himself accountable to the team’s goals but also holds his teammates accountable as well. Ollie gives his all on the pitch and plays fearlessly, including 80 means in nearly every game and through injuries.”
Schoeder said Ollie brings a positive attitude to practices and games and is never one to complain. He leads by example and holds others accountable.
