Hard work and perservance have allowed sophomore Omi McGee’s to achieve a stellar tennis season in the PRA team’s top spot—No. 1 Singles—and earning her the honor of being tennis’s Athlete of the Month for April.
As the No. 1 Singles player, this season Omi has earned two wins over Dawson, a win over Peak to Peak, and finished first in the Centaurus Tournament.
Coach Ari Finkelstein said that this is Omi’s second year as the team’s No. 1 Singles player. She has worked hard to improve her game, he said, training on weekends and during the off-season to improve. Her effort has paid off. Finkelstein said she is competing at a high level this year as one of the top players in the state.
“Omi, in 10th Grade, is one of the youngest captains of the tennis team that we have had, but it is well-deserved. Omi has helped create a cohesive and competitive team, even with many new freshmen joining this year. She works hard to help the younger, less-experienced players, and she never complains about difficult drills and conditioning. She’s been a pleasure to coach.”
