Nick Shoemaker ’25, HS Boys Cross Country

Nick Shoemaker recently set a new personal best of 17:28 at the Thornton Invitational. Coach Mary Marr said while the accomplishment is impressive on its own, what makes it really special is that Nick is coming off of a stress injury in his shin. To rehab his injury, Nick had six weeks of cross training and then six weeks of slowly building his mileage back up. His unwavering commitment and positive attitude are why Nick was chosen as the boys cross country Athlete of the Month for September 2023.

“I am so proud of Nick’s commitment to his recovery and trusting in the process. He is a quiet but powerful leader on the team. Leading by example and always having a positive attitude and ready to take on the next challenge.”
